THE 4 BEST POSTPARTUM AND MOM JEANS

The 4 best postpartum and mom jeans

As a petite, but full-figured gal, jeans have been tough for me. Sad, but true, story: I didn’t wear jeans EVER until middle school, because I was overweight and too embarrassed to wear anything other than sweatpants. Then, sadly, my first pair of jeans were wide-leg monstrosities. Ahhh, to be a 90’s child.

But anyway, worse than my middle school days were my postpartum days. My body was fuuuuunky. All of my pre-baby jeans were low/mid-rise, but the new c-section scar I was sporting did NOT like any zipper, waistband, or buttons near it. That’s when I first discovered the gloriousness that is a high rise pair of jeans. In three sizes up (because, ladies, NO SHAME IN YOUR POSTPARTUM BODY!!!).

I didn’t want to spend a fortune on my jeans immediately after giving birth, so when Nordstrom was having a sale, I bought a pair of jeans that quickly became my FAVORITES. I’m talking stretchy, wide waistband, multiple washes, affordable, and a nice, high rise.

My absolute favorite postpartum jeans are these Wit and Wisdom Ab-Solution Skinny Jeans from Nordstrom. If you catch them on sale, they’ll be less than $50. SCORE! They come in regular, petite, and plus sizes, too. One thing I found is that the denim is rather thin (and super stretchy) so if you’ve got thighs that love to touch one another (like mine), you may get holes faster than other jeans. I didn’t mind, since these were literally LIFE for me and I had no problem replacing them if I needed to. I personally find they run a little snug, so don’t be afraid to order a size up. I’ve also heard that Amazon sells the same jeans, under a different name, and while I haven’t personally tried them, these are also Ab-Solution jeans, and have RAVE reviews.

Alas, though, I eventually lost all (ahem, most) of the baby weight, my c-section scar stopped aching as much, and I wanted jeans that would sort of hold things back in place, if you know what I mean. Lots of people recommended the Old Navy Rockstar jeggings, but they just didn’t work for me. Neither did the ever-popular American Eagle jeans. BUT, I was in Target shortly after Universal Thread was released, and gave them a try on a whim. Praise the denim Gods because the Universal Thread Mid-Rise Skinny jeans fit me like a glove. Enough stretch for me to move around in, and the perfect rise - not to low that my butt crack showed, but not so high that they held my bra up. BONUS, they run a little big, so I got to wear a size down. BONUS BONUS BONUS, they’re often on sale for under $25. UNDER. TWENTY-FIVE. DOLLARS. DO YOU HEAR ME?!

Fast forward three years and I’ve officially come to terms with my body after baby. I still love my Target jeans, but I wanted those mystical jeans people talk about - the magic ones. The ones that make your ass look great, even if it’s the biggest it’s ever been. I wanted those, and I’d spend anything for them. That’s when I discovered Madewell jeans, and my life has been forever changed. They are on the pricey side, but I got my three favorite pairs for under $80 each, which is a total score to me. The 9” Mid Rise Skinny Jeans have forever changed my life. They suck things into places I didn’t know things could ever be sucked into anymore - all while, wait for it, BEING COMFORTABLE! These are the jeans I wear on the daily now, and I seem to buy a pair every time they’re on sale. All the hype is true. They’re magic.

So there you have it, my four favorite pairs of jeans:

  1. Immediately postpartum: Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution

  2. Immediately postpartum: (or these similar ones from Amazon)

  3. The transition jeans: Universal Thread Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans

  4. The Magic Ultimate Life-Changing Jeans: Madewell’s 9” Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans
