Thinking of your child as behaving badly easily leads to thinking about punishment. Thinking of your child as struggling in a situation naturally encourages you to help them through their distress.

There's a really fine line between discipline and punishment. But, when possible, encouraging and supporting a child to work through a situation is always rewarding.
