FONT FRIDAY - SLIGHT SCRIPT

If you’re a long-time follower, perhaps coming over from Sincerely, Jackie, you know that I’m a self declared font-aholic. I buy fonts the way most women buy shoes: in abundance and without telling my husband. Luckily for me, fonts are a business expense, and my husband has his own shoe obsession, so he can’t judge me.

For over 10 years, I’ve had a series on Sincerely, Jackie called “Font Friday”, where I’ve shared my favorite font finds on Friday. Some years I was able to post every week, and some years the posts were monthly, or even less frequently. Life waxes and wanes, and I’m all about going with the flow of things at this stage of life (running several businesses, keeping up with my toddler, managing the household, etc).

So, YES!, Font Friday is back, and each post will be shared right here on my personal site from here on out. I make zero promises about frequency of posts, but I can promise that they’ll only pop up on Fridays, and I’ll share them on @sincerelyjackiepaper and @jackiemangiolino.

And without further ramblings, I break a year of fonty-silence by bringing you one of my favorite fonts, created by one of my favorite people. Julie, of Up Up Creative, is both a personal friend and a business confidant. She’s a graphic designer and letterer turned font designer - which means her fonts are always KILLER. As a designer, she knows the pain points we all have (ampersands, herumph) and solves those problems beautifully and uniquely with each font she creates.

Slight is a modern calligraphy inspired font, with ligatures (aka swirly thingies), ampersands, numbers, and alternates galore. It’s a smooth, breezy, eye-catching design that is both easy to read, and true to it’s calligraphic inspiration. That is NOT an easy feat, so kudos to you, Julie!

Slight is versatile, and a font I find myself grabbing often. It works beautifully in wedding invitations for the couple’s name, it works on escort cards, envelope addresses, and in other formal designs. To dress up Slight, pair it with a traditional serif font, and voila, you’ve got something upscale and timeless.

Looking for something a little more casual? No problem! Pair Slight with a thin or mid-weight sans serif font and you’ll have a playful take on a classic.

See? You can do just about anything with Slight!

The best part? Slight is affordable! You can buy Slight for just $26. While I purchased by Slight font from Creative Market, it’s also available from the Up Up Creative website, as well as on MyFonts.Com.
